Our Merry Christmas

Once again we had a very merry Christmas. Although Emily woke up at 2am on Christmas Eve feverish and congested we had a great time together as a family. In fact, due to her illness we didn't go out to attend Christmas Eve service at church, but instead stayed home cuddled up with a movie and popcorn.

As the week progressed, so did Emily's cold and as she so generously shared with her mom! :) Aside from feeling rather crummy, it's been good to get some extra rest and spend some fun time at home together rather than rushing from here to there. Too bad that's what it takes to get me to slow down a bit. :( Guess that's something I should work on in the new year!

We are planning to attend a New Year's event at church tomorrow evening...pizza, praise & worship music, etc. Should be lots of fun (as long as I remember my tylenol sinus beforehand). Blessings for a Happy New Year!

Here's a small sampling of the Christmas fun...

What could be better...Harry Potter DVD Scene It...

Aunt Steph sent Emily a karaoke machine...we've been singing with Hannah Montana!

So Much Has Happened...

Well, since I last posted so much has taken place... Emily even became a bride and rose from the dead...don't worry!!...it was all part of a very fun-filled Halloween celebration. Take a look...

Oh my!

I think these photos speak for themselves...

The 1st Missing Tooth!!

Emily's very first lost tooth...which ironically (or maybe not) was the first tooth she got as a baby! Oh, how she's growing up!!!

Some more summer fun...

Emily jumping in the lake...

What a great view!

Ben sailing...

Sailing with the ducks...

Summer Photos

A visitor...this little cat just showed in our yard one night while we were out. It followed Emily around for 1/2 hour or so and then went on its way.

An uncessful attempt to see a movie at the theater in Watkins (newspaper misprint of schedule) led to some browsing at antique shops and a stop at Seneca Lake to visit the ducks.

The happy little swimmer at Nana & Poppy's pool.

Finally some time to blog...

It's been a while since we added anything new...too busy having fun! Some highlights since the last post: the family has celebrated 3 birthdays , made 2 day trips to the lake to visit out of town relatives staying there, the "girls" have gotten new hairdos, Emily has lost her first tooth and been visited by the tooth fairy, and so much more.

I finally have time to fill everyone in and add a few pics...I'm a free woman for a couple of afternoons. WOO HOO!! Emily is in Philly with Nana & Poppy on a visit to her Aunt Steph. Today was their special trip to the safari park...can't wait to see any pics that my "little photographer" took while there. She's having fun. Although it's too quiet and I miss her, I'm enjoying some free time...stopped after work for a new short haircut (back to my old standby style...the chin length bob with bangs!) Even painted my finger nails this afternoon. Of course now I'm all "beautified" and nobody is around to see it! At least for a few hours until Ben gets home.

Sick day

Today is sick day for the girls at our house. Emily woke up in the middle of the night sick to her stomach. Ugh!! So between that and my foot, we're sitting in our pj's doing a whole lot of nothing today! We're getting bored with cartoons...maybe we'll play a game later. And we're watching for the big brown truck. He's supposed to be delivering my swimsuits that I ordered from Old Navy. Hope I like them and they fit and look nice. I can try them on and daydream about my trip to Puerto Rico in the fall.

Mojo is keeping us great company today!

How sweet!

Ben & Emily are so sweet & thoughtful...they picked me this "get better" bouquet of wild flowers this evening.

Quite the Cappuccino!

Well, yesterday started off "on the right foot" so to speak. Ben left for Rochester for a 2-day class and Emily and I got ready for school and work and left with plenty of time to spare (for once). I delivered her safely to school, and realizing that I still had 40 minutes until I needed to be at work, I decided that I'd stop for a cappuccino and have a nice leisurely trip to work. What a calm, nice morning...until I stopped at the local convenience store for the cappuccino. Not a good idea! I got out of my car and started across the parking lot and turned my ankle. Ok...no problem...my foot hurts a little, but no big deal. So I continue into the store, get the cappuccino and pay. I get back in the car and off to work. So I'm there at work doing my thing, but every time I get up from my desk for something I notice my foot is starting to hurt worse. So by the time I leave work I'm hobbling to the back door and across the parking lot wondering if I'm really going to make it to my car. I manage to get there, drive home and drag myself into the house. Then comes the fun part...up the stairs to the bathroom. As time passes, I decide that it's getting worse not better, swelling and getting bruised. Not a good sign. I can barely walk even hanging on to various pieces of furniture, etc. Needless to say, I ended up in the ER. 2 1/2 hours later I was finally on my way home with a cracked metatarsal (bone in the side of my foot) and wrapped up with an ace bandage and one of those flat, hard soled velcro boot-shoe things. Such attractive footwear!! The latest spring fashion! Anyway, I am seeing the orthopedic dr. Thurs. afternoon.
All that for convenience store cappuccino...for all this trouble & pain, it could've at least been Starbuck's or a nice cafe or something!!!

Cooling off

Oh, what a fun way to cool off on a hot & humid Saturday afternoon!

"Grandma & Grandpa" came for dinner this evening. After a nice meal, some fresh baked chocolate chip cookies and a couple of fun games, they decided to head home. So we walked them out and Emily decided to "test drive" their MG, try Grandma's visor and Grandpa's hat on for size...and show a little attitude to top it all off!

We're off!

It's official. We've booked our 10th anniversary trip to San Juan, Puerto Rico... Exciting! It is going to be such fun, so relaxing, and such a major photo opportunity for me. I can't wait!

FINALLY!!!

With the help of a wonderful group of family/friends, the house is finally totally sided... HOORAY!!!

Our little artist

The school recently held the annual art show at the mall.
Our little artist was so proud of herself...she had 2 of her works there.

The Kindergarten "Andy Warhol"

Em's "Virginia O'Keefe" lesson...beautiful!
